I guess newlynew is pretty new in the technical field. I would say electrical engineering is the engineering of engineerings. Electrical engineers have its own different sections like communication, signal, digital systems, control enginering, power engineering, semiconductor, microwave,optics.... It is also applied in other engineering also such as mechanical, biomedical, agriculture, aerospace .... May be you are thinking there is only oppertunity for computer related jobs. Man, electrical engineers still hold too many jobs in the job market. in 2008 out of 1.6 million engineering jobs Electrical enginnering was at 4th place with 157,800 jobs(civil,mechnical and industrial engineers were ahead of EE).If you see earnings for EE : In 2008, lowest 10% made 52,990; lowest 25% made 64,910; median made 82,160, highest 25 % made 102,520 and highest 10% made 125,810.
