" I have no money, no job". The plight of Nepalese students in UK

Most of the students who are suffering are students who came here with the intention of making money i.e. economic migrants rather than students with actual intention of studying. Otherwise they would have brought enough money to sustain themselves for a year or so for the course, accomodation, travelling, etc.

Most of them already have information about these colleges not listed in UCAS (which are pretty much like the training institutes in Nepal) which only does professional qualifications, even before they apply for VISA. There is ubiquitous internet these days to conduct enough research on the college and course they have applied for.

I came to a similar college about a decade back but I had enough funds to sustain me while I was looking for job. Luckily I got job pretty quickly then because job market was not that bad, studied hard and gathered enough professional course certificate to gain access to the university, gathered enough funds to pay the tuition fees and other related expenses and now am working in a good company.

Only one Nepali student among 100 or so who came to the college at the time I started, ended up with a university degree. If it wasn't for these other 98 or so students who were merely economic migrants, things would have been much easier for others. At the moment, 20,000 plus Nepali students (igonring 60,000 plus from India, 40,000 plus each from Bangladesh and Pakistan) have swamped these colleges because of points based system the government has introduced. They got visa on the basis of showing one day's fund in the bank account in some cases and fake acommodation letter provided by these colleges. Obviously, it will make life difficult for students like me who came here with the intention of studying but without enough funds initially to fund university education.

People with enough money get admitted to universities and colleges listed in UCAS and these colleges and Universities never do accomodation letter without actually providing it.

God help these new arrivals and let them off life of crime in desperation. That's all I can say.
