Magic Jack is a VOIP service.. It's a Voice over Internet Protocol. All the calls originate from web and is routed via web..... due to the lack of proper rules NTC is still blocking this technology in Nepal. i,e they can block the VOIP calls originating from Nepal which uses their gateway.. Also they block the calls coming to Nepal .. They do this beacuse they will lose revenue.. When a regular International call is made to Nepal NTC will make some money out of it..
So when you hook up your Magic Jack to the internet and to your phone set in Nepal.. You will receive a local phone number of the USA. The phone number will respond like it is in the USA.
So when you make local calls in the USA they will be free and there will be no problem at all....But if you use magic jack to call a Nepal Landline from Nepal you will be billed for international rate for Nepal.....
ISP's can block VOIP but Nepali ISP's are good .... they haven't done that in the past ....
