Part II

The following night, as she was going through her regular web-browsing, she felt a strong urge to log into yahoo messenger. A strange urge, in fact, which seemed to be bloating her.
“Hey, I was just around to see if someone was online :)”
There was that surprise window again, as soon as she logged in.
Sheila, “Hey , wot’s up?”
Burpy, “Nothing really, I have an exam tomorrow and I was just waiting on you to send your best wishes my way”. There he went again. You couldn’t really tell if he was real, or fake or a mere flirt! But, all it mattered was that he was able to keep her enticed, if not interested YET! It seemed as if he knew exactly when and how to woo her!!
She was fairly new to the exuberant North American world, but had a fairly good idea of a lot of things. She had a trendy taste of the fashion world, an asset to her charming personality that added extra glamour to her confidence and strong academic background. Popularity among peers and a dominating persona attributed to her success and marked her presence. She loathed Mr. I-know-it-alls and you-know-what-I-means. A gentleman with a quick sense of humor and wits was what she expected in a male companion and a decent conversation was all it needed to earn her smile. Sophisticated yet simple! Burpy seemed to know it all! He seemed to have a charm, not of a player but a perfectionist, a different aura that left Sheila smiling at his silly jestures. No, he wasn’t one of those hunks with chiseled abs and sexy muscles, just a guy-next-door look that was ample enough to earn pretty smirks. Nor there was the smallest vibe of compatibility between them. He thought she was cute but cold, who didn’t even bother to ask which school he went to while she thought he was catchy yet creepy.
‘The strangest things happen with the simplest people’. From chatting in yahoo, their creepy fondness grew to talking on the phone and before she knew, she was starting to ignore the UNKNOWN calls! Their conversation ranged from anything to everything, from weather to work, family to friends, from school to sajha :-). They developed the compatibility they never thought of; flirting changed to friendship to feelings and further! Sub-consciously, they both gave up so much of themselves to be what the other end wanted. It did not take them too long to be what they call ‘soul mates’. They found fondness and fidelity in their long distance talks; the 1500 miles distance between the two states that separated them physically helped them strengthen their emotional bond.
That summer at the completion of a successful semester for both of them, he decided to buy her a ticket to attend their common friend’s wedding. She would have attended it anyways, but he always had his ways to make his presence felt! He flew over a day early, just in time to be able to pick her up. As she saw him step out of his car, for the first time in person, she could feel her heart pounding. She was so nervous she could hardly keep track of her facial expressions. A quick peck on the cheek to bring her back from the la la land and he opened the door for her; there she sees a bouquet of fresh smelling flowers on the passenger seat waiting on her, one of her favorites, just in time to woo her again!
