Maya,

Are you trying to tell me that this paper by AC Dillon "Storage of hydrogen in single-walled carbon nanotubes" in Nature is unfounded, and yet it has more than 1700 citation? And to say it is "controversial" doesn't mean it is wrong. I would like to see which other famous professor cast doubt on its veracity?See, Science is all about challenging others. It is a normal process. But to say that this paper was malevolently written and the whole thing is fake requires a bit of stretching of our imagination. If what you claim is true, then Dillon lost our respect and must have been fired or ostracized by the community. Even when one can make a claim, one can't get away with the consequences.

As for Bohr's claim, which is not my field, did he also ask that govt give him some support for making that "claim"? See Bohr was a pedigree, he was in a university, and he didn't say Newtonian Mechanics was wrong--just proposed its extension in some field. It is permissible even in the fields such as economics, finance to claim another giant have erred, but to do so, first you have to be steeped in the literature, and understand why they said what they said. At graduate level, you are allowed to "say" or "think loudly" among your peers that you think some of the established results might be incomplete, but that's when you work on it and prove it in front of your peers, not in front of 10 class pass journalists who know nothing.

It is okey to encourage people to be skeptic--but to take it to such an enormous level requires stupidity of highest proportion.
