Curfew in Bhojpur
BHOJPUR, OCT 29 - Authorities clamped indefinite curfew in and around Bhojpur district headquarters from 6 p.m. Wednesday following clashes between student wings of the UCPN (Maoist) and CPN-UML over the recent attack on the campus chief.
Chief District Officer Baburam Khatiwada said the curfew order was issued as the situation became tense after UML-affiliated students attacked Maoist cadre Gopal Timalsina.
The dispute spawned after the Maoist-affiliated
All Nepal National Independent Students’ Union Revolutionary (ANNISU-R) attacked Parwat Kumar Rai, chief of Bhojpur Multiple Campus, on Sunday. The ANNISU-R students had accused Rai of appointing UML sympathisers as campus staff. Police have detained ANNISU-R district chair Sunita Rai on the charge of masterminding the attack.
The college administration has shut the campus indefinitely citing security reasons.
