Brother Kuhire, the answer is very simple. they were peticoat because it's a tradition. I'was born and raised in valley and believe me sometime like 15-20 yrs back you could easily find women wearing peticoat and not other sorts of underwear within the kathmandu valley itself and u don't even had to go to the villages to know that..........it's simple that women wear fariya and saree which are in some cases are transparent too and for better covering they feel that peticoat is the best choice.

with the time-span and better hygiene information, nowadays women do wear other kinds of underwear. It's just a matter of time that allows a tradition to mould on its own.

I don't know why ppl are overexaggerating over such a simple matter.

abt nepalese being sexually inactive, i believe it happened just in a way of making the society more well-mannered. By that i mean that ppl want to have control over their children's life until they are grown enough to understand sex.........they don't want teenage pregnancy like in US and cause social humiliation. Otherwise the societies before in Valley are very well depicted in the arts of the temples and museums if u didn't miss that out. You can see sex symbols and ppl in sexual acts carved all over the temples..........i guess that's an obvious way to percieve the sexually active society.
