I had lost mine too 3 years back. They issued me a new SSN card.
But,
When I monitor my credit report, I found 4 different ppl were using my card on AT&T, Comcast, and for Electric company. Neither of the accounts was paid on time, and they were forwarded to the collection agency. Then, I spent a lot of time and money to clear those record from my history. Two of them were removed from my account, and two accounts still exit and investigation is going on.
So: you better lock your SSN using lifelock.com--takes 10 dollar per month
OR
Monitor ur credit history in every 2 months....otherwise you will be in trouble later.
