My experience with U-haul/ U-hell

I see U-haul everywhere. Trucks, Vans.... I was moving out
from one apartment to another. I only had very few items (one bedroom stuffs)
to move so I decided to rent a van. I reserved the van online but on the day of
moving out I realized that the van might not be big enough so I called the
U-haul regional office an hour before my scheduled pickup and the lady who
picked up the phone was kind enough to change my reservation from van to a 10ft
truck and my pick up time was set to 1:30 Pm (3 miles from where I live). I
reached there at 1:15 Pm and asked for my rented truck. The lady at the desk
(Mary) was very rude and said that there was no 10 ft truck, infact there was
not a single truck at that location. Now before changing my reservation from
van to truck I actually made a call to U-haul at that location and talked to
Mary. On phone, She said there was nothing available at her place which I
totally understand. The staff from regional office somehow booked my
reservation at the same location. When I reached there and asked for my rented
truck, Mary bursted on me and angrily said,"I already told you on phone
that there wasn't any truck here. Why did you even come here?" I gave her
my reservation number and said I am here to pick my truck. She didnt seem
pleased. Anyhow there is no truck its not her fault. I got infuriated by her
attitude and said,"I had a reservation here for a truck and is it my fault
that there is no truck here? This is your problem. Solve it!" She just sat
there and did nothing to help. I stepped out of that office and called the
regional office again but this time a guy picks up the phone and I told him
about my reservation. This guy(regional office) on the phone couldn't find a truck
of my size and said there is a 14 ft truck available at 3:00Pm which is 20
miles away. I said that is quite far as I was already tired of their drama.
This guys tells me,"Hang up the Phone and cancel your reservation" in
a very rough tone. I mean what is up with these people at U-haul. I had already
made some important appointment for that evening and all I had was a small
window of time to move out and these guys were not cooperative at all. I ended
up getting a 14ft U-haul truck at 4:30pm (7miles aways) and had to cancel my
other appointment. Was a very stressful and tiring day. I sat down today and
googled "U-haul how can my voice be heard" and to my surprise I found
100s of customers having same kind of problems (Bad customer service from
U-haul).I'll never recommend anyone to U-haul. I might be 0.000001% of their
entire customer but do hell with that, you guys lost 0.000001% of your
customer.
