Dear President, Executive Committee and Members:


On behalf of Association of Nepalis in the Americas (ANA) and Nepalis of Northern California, we extend a warm invitation to your organization for the upcoming 27th Annual ANA 2009 Convention to be held from July 1 through July 5, 2009 at Marriott Hotel, Oakland Convention Center, Oakland, California. This year ANA is hosted under the joint banner of 501C.3 compliant non-profit Nepali organizations in Northern California such as NANC (Nepal Association of Northern California), NAFCA (Nepalis And Friends Cultural Association), and various non-profit Nepali organizations in and around Northern California. The ANA 2009 Organizing Committee which consists of convening council, advisory board, and all sub-committee chairpersons realizes that it is essential to reach out to all Nepalis with various backgrounds and ethnicity to make the 27th Annual Convention a success. We would like to extend our invitation to you to participate in the 27th Annual Convention, partnering with us to put together a united and diverse cultural program that covers all ethnic backgrounds in the upcoming convention to make it a memorable success. The purpose of the exclusively educational and charitable ANA is to promote preservation of Nepali identity and culture in the Americas, to foster cordial relations among Nepalis and Americans, to demonstrate the effectiveness of the participation of Nepali-Americans in the communities they live in and to strengthening the local communities.


Spectacular views, wonderful weather, beach front entertainment and the ambiance of a romantic city is what the San Francisco Bay Area has to offer for the ANA 2009 Convention. It is the desire of the Nepalis of Northern California that all Nepalis, who have made Northern California their second home, join hands with them and be a part of the social and cultural event the ANA has been organizing. Being a part of the ANA Convention 2009 in the San Francisco Bay Area will not only add an essence of being closer to Nepal, but will bring together the Nepali Communities of this great nation. It is our goal to bring Nepali Communities from all over the United States to act as one, share their experiences and views with all Nepalis. Attendees travel from Nepal and all over the Americas to attend this event. The convention offers an opportunity for leaders in politics, business, education, technology and humanitarians from America and Nepal to address the largest gathering of Nepalis in the world. It is also, an opportunity for all attendees to enjoy the rich and diverse Nepali culture, food, dance, songs, and hospitality, as well as network with others and celebrate the new and historical changes that our beloved Nepal is experiencing.


ANA was founded in July 1983 in New York and Incorporated in Washington DC in 1983 as a non-profit organization. Since its inception, ANA has grown steadily as an international organization attracting a diverse membership that includes resident Nepalis in the Americas, many international scholars, scientists, outdoor enthusiasts, and philanthropists, who share an interest in Nepal and the Nepali Culture. The purpose of ANA is to preserve and promote Nepali cultural heritage, to foster relationships among Nepalis and Americans and to demonstrate the effectiveness of the participation of Nepali-Americans in the communities in which they live. The five day convention is filled with intellectual programs on improving technology, the environment, women’s rights, and promoting democracy; as well as entertaining programs that both demonstrate and promote the rich and diverse Nepali cultural heritage.


We, being part of the ANA Organizing Committee, will be honored if you choose to attend the ANA 2009 Convention at the Hotel Marriott in Oakland, California. It is our hope, through collective participation, that communities can become stronger. With this in mind, it is our appeal to you, to join hands with the rest of the local community in making this event a grand success.
