This is a great thread. I am also an interested learner of English and correct pronounciation of its word. However, let us not forget that people who speak this great language as their second language will have accent problems and it is very natural. That of course should not be a reason to not improve and i agree with you guys for the need  of correction of many words in English that we speak not as a native speaker.  however, not being able to pronounce some words correctly should not give us any  kind of inferiority complex either.

I'm little suprised to see on the message about how an Indian guy corrected how we should be saying shanti with the correct pronounciation of Sha . Let us not forget that when we say shanti we say santi, it's just correct in Nepali way, it does not have to be said in Indian way although it is originated from sanskrit but we can totally have our own way of saying this and other words. Take for example British and American accent. Americans never seem to take complex about not being able to pronounce as British nor do British trying to teach how Americans should pronounce  the words, at least not anymore. Maybe our Nepali language is not so mature but again it is also not so sophisticated and rigid. For that reason our western friends can speak fluent Nepali in a couple of monhs , did you guys see the video of an africian guy in UN camp who was speaking fluent Nepali? Language should be easy as it is the main source of communication and luckly Nepali language serves the purpose very well.

let us continue learning and also appereciate what we have.. :)
