In Bible terminology, the phrase "East to West" refers to instantaneous knowledge. East from west is a matter of distance. As the famous authors point out, "never the twain shall meet". When one travels North to South, eventually one reaches a destination, but when one travels, one never actually gets to "east" or "west". It is an unobtainable goal, so the matter is forever. When God says "as far as the East is from the West" it means forever because one can never travel to either destination as a destination.

The East possesses a general symbolism as the ancient world where civilization was born. In fact the middle east is known as the "cradle" of civilization. Ancient cultures and values are associated with the east and wisdom associated with the far east.
Associated with the east are additional symbolic correspondences such as spring, hope and childhood. It is the direction to which worship is oriented, especially for the solar gods of ancient times. The east possesses a general symbolism of the past and the ancient world.

 The west represents the direction of scientific progress and advanced cultures. It has been the major direction of exploration by world explorers culminating with the discovery of America by Columbus. This symbolism has gained such a wide acceptance that one can talk of a western and eastern world view.

The west is universally associated with death. J.C. Cooper notes in An Illustrated Encyclopedia, that it symbolizes autumn, the dying sun and middle age. In China, west symbolizes dryness and sorrow and the element metal, the color white and the animal the White Tiger. In Eygptian mythology, the "western lands" are the territory the souls of the dead make a hazardous pilgrimage to in their quest for immortality.

So i guess all those who live in the WC are zombies............sorry but that's what i see from my philosophy, culture, religion, art and historical perspectives.
