One year ago one of my Indian friends had the same situation. I do not know how complicated is your accident. If it is just damage of property then don't panic but if you  hit a pedestrian or someone i can't say anything.

My friend's situation

He was driving with a learner permit not the driver license. His wife had license from India and she was sitting on the passenger seat. While parking the car, mistakenly he pressed gas instead of the brakes and the car hit the wall of the dry cleaners he was going to visit. He got nervous and left the scene but noticed that someone was writing his vehicle plate no. He came home and called me immediately and explained the situations and i showed him my anger about his leaving the scene. About fifteen minutes later, cops came to his apartment and gave him two tickets. #1 Driving without License #2 Leaving the scene of accidents.  As I suggested him, he pleaded not guilty and went to the court on the date specified. There his two tickets were converted into parking violations  and he had to pay almost total 400 dollars for these two tickets. Also judge ordered him to take some 6 hour driving class. The insurance company paid for the damage of the property. Nothing serious happened. My friend now has license and is doing fine.

Therefore if your accident is something like my friend's, just plead not guilty and you will be fine after the judges changes tickets into parking violations.
