"Convention Refugee" is a standard formal legal designation used almost universally around the world. The US uses the term 'Asylum Seeker' but in essence it follows absolutely same guiding principles set by UN Convention on Refugees.
Just because you dont like the term 'refugee' doesnt mean the UN will change guiding principles that determines if someone is a refugee or not.
