Following the General Meeting of 12 February 2006, and the statement by the Chairman for the need by BGWS to establish a hospital in Nepal - a contribution from the Gurkhas as a whole. This will not only make each and every Gurkha proud but 'lahures' seen in a different light with the stigma we carry for ourselves totally removed. When we bought Gurkha Bhawan, you will recall it seemed a pipe dream but our success surprised everyone, while giving us the confidence that with unity anything can be achieved - where there is a will, there certainly is way.
We have a long way to go on the 'Gurkha Hospital' project but best we sow the seed now. We are positively and strongly moving forward, any donation received for BGWS will now go towards the project. Once we reach our initial goal of £10,000 we will register this project as a separate Charity Fund, which will allow us to raise funds specifically for this purpose. I thank one and all for their support thus far." (http://www.bgws.org/bgws_hospital.html)
these r just few examples, not to forget the remittances they bring in. n if it is physical envolvemnt many r talking about, all those congress armed revolution against rana were possible only due to gurkhas who had just returned from WWII n had immense expereicen in warfare, again thier involvemnt against panchayat paved way for democracy, even though the corrupt leaders screwed up later.
