48-year-old unemployed Scotswoman Susan Boyle has become an international celebrity in the last week. Her unlikely rags to riches story, which involved her being made of on television before having the last laugh with a jaw-dropping musical performance that has been replayed across the planet over 50 million times in the last seven days, just got a little more interesting.

A recording of Boyle singing the classic ballad Cry Me a River for a charity CD has been uncovered by UK media and released online.

Reportedly only 1000 copies of the original were ever released, but Boyle's 'lost' recording turns out to be every bit as good as the rendition of I Dreamed a Dream from Les Miserables that has won over the world.

Since her TV appearance, the original version of the song Boyle chose to perform on Britain's Got Talent has rocketed up the iTunes music charts. A record deal with Sony BMG is in the works, and ticket sales for the Vancouver Arts Club production of Les Miserables have reportedly skyrocketed.

Boyle will appear again on Britain's Got Talent later in the season.
