A part of my communication to comment on the article #18 and to point out how Maoist have given the ‘right of self-determination’ in one article (#18-3) and taken away in another article (#42-2, clarification clause) and what that might mean to us.
“…Article #18 of the draft is terrifying, to say the least.
However, we must keep in mind (or keep our hope up for) that Maoist do play with words. I have seen instances in which they start with a very specific statement, then go to make it ambivalent and finally reject the original statement completely.
The ‘right of self-determination’ is a case in point.
The article #18-3 grants ‘right of self determination’. Then article #42-2 (clarification clause) redefines it essentially rejecting it completely.
So, I am hopeful that article #18-2 (right to develop as a ‘nation’) can be expected to be re-interpreted to mean something abstract rather than a real new ‘nation’.
But, in any case, it is clear that Maoist draft has left too much work/activism to make it ‘moderate’ enough…”
