Microbiology Laboratory Technician: (full time)


(A Bachelors degree in Microbiology, Biology, Medical Technology or other related field.


- Recent (within the past 12 months) work experience in a scientific or sterility assurance laboratory is


preferred.)


Position requires performance of both simple and complex microbiological test procedures, as well as, operation


and maintenance of all instrumentation used in or to support the testing process.


Principal Duties & Responsibilities


- Performance of the following microbiological laboratory tests and procedures: bioburden, sterility,


bacteriostasis/fungistasis, bacterial endotoxin testing, heterotrophic plate counts, microbial identification studies,


decontamination and disinfection procedures, media preparation, sterilization and quality control, durability testing,


and cleaning/sanitizing Microbiological Services cleanrooms.


 


Microbiologist:  (Bachelor's degree in microbiology or biology with a concentration of course work in microbiology.) (contract but long term)


Design and conduct research and/or process improvement projects pertaining to microbiological control and sterilization of Biomedical products.  Conduct quality assurance activities required to support, evaluate, document and audit the sterilization of orthopaedic products.


  • Assist the microbiology lab manager in the supervision of the routine testing activities.
  • Prepare test protocols and final reports of research and validation projects.
  • Design and conduct validation and process improvement projects pertaining to microbiological control and sterilization.
  • Conduct QSR/ISO audits of contract sterilization vendors and contract laboratories.
  • Perform quality assurance activities (sterilization shipment review, dose mapping studies, review of gas plasma sterilization records, etc.) as required to support the sterility assurance program.  Provide technical guidance to Manufacturing, Development Engineering, and Research Departments on issues related to microbiological control and product sterilization.
