I feel you. I've always had the same problem with proof of our history. Some guy wrote a book does not mean it will be taken seriously without a proof. I have a strong feeling that most of the historical writings of our country dating back to Lichivi can be debated either by us or by outsider, and without proof, it means nothing. It's a shame that we are not taught of our own history in High School. Beside Maths and Science, if a nation does not bother teaching its own history, it is going to be doomed, hence we see the affect of that in our public, politic and social activities. The worst is yet to come.

I don't know about the rest of you here, at least I was never taught too much of our own history besides the glories of the Shah dynasty. There was nothing like "people's history", history in the sense of time and period, culture and civilization of certain group of people, places. It was all about Kings and Queens. Imagine what we missed.
Some guy was debating with me in one of the thread whether during the time of Buddha, was there as a whole
nations called Nepal, were we instead under the rule of an Indian king? We do not have proof that we were not under the rule of a Indian rule 2500 years ago. Indian has proof of kings and palaces from those periods. What about us? It's easy to be ignorant and repeat the same thing "No, we were not under the rule of anybody.", but to prove it with historical facts is what makes it legit.
In my honesty, we were NOT under any body's rule especially colonial rulers. Things would have been different, maybe in the good path compared to what we have now.

But if time in not the essence and if we were to go back-way back- I feel we were definitely ruled by some Indian ruler some time in the history, probably much earlier than we've any written record of. Use your common sense and read a bit of Indian history, it is apparent.
If any of you-history major- can say otherwise with some historical proof that Nepal was never rules by any Indian ruler, that will fill in some gaps that I've always wanted to know.

Thank you.
