Death News

I've always escaped Death's path.

I am always away when Death comes by. 

Such then is the surprise:

In my family of maddeningly frequent deaths,

I have never been in it's proximity,

I haven't embraced a dying loved body.

Death has always come as distant news to me.

From afar, I've suffered Death's routine agony.

And there is no struggle with reported news;

Just as no one defeats the air by refusing to breathe.
