Granted I am not for uprooting the illegals, as they do work hard, you cannot blame US government for taking this action. You are doing something illegal don't you think there are penalties. Did US govt asked you to come to the country to work illegally?

But as for the status I am not sure if a lawyer would be of much help, though u should atleast consult him. A friend of mine just left the city he got the letter in and went somewhere else with different name. But life like that is hard, you can't drive...it's hard to find a rent etc.
