Asthma can not be cured but can be treated. Every person who is suffering from asthma has  asthma trigger that most likely most of the sufferers  know about. Best treatment( or I should say prevention) is not to come in contact with your disease specific asthma trigger. For example if cold weather is your asthma trigger then try to keep yourself warm. As far as medicine is concerned, Albuterol is a rescue drug meaning that it treats symptoms of asthma after about 15-20 minutes of inhalation and usually the effect lasts for about 6 hours.
