You can do good no matter what kind of university you go to. Or, even if you don't go to any.

However, statistics of my graduated friends, who went to different universities tell a different story. Those who graduated from Ivies, or even some other top-notch schools have starting salaries of over $100000. Those who didn't though they are happy with what they are doing and making, earn considerably a lower amount. 

Last line - If you have the option of choosing a considerably better university, always go for it.
