To credit the maoist insurgency for increased standard of living in Nepal is nothing but malicious intention to  mislead the ordinary citizen of Nepal.

Just NO WAR and NO BANDHS are enough to put our country in the track of positive economic progress, be it ruled by King, Prachanda, Madhav Nepal, Girija, Nepe or BC or kancha, or a or b or c, because we have hard working ordinary people who are determined  for progress at every moment.

We also have advantage of tying our currency with Indian currency that pulls up us in the statistics charts wheneven Indian economy gets stronger than average. 

If we are really strong in published HDI score, we must compare it against India and China, not against sub-saharian African people.

[PS:, I do not think, the statistics of Nepal earlier than 1992 is acceptable for drawing any sound conclusion. There were severe negligence in data collection and analysis methods. GDP was not properly calculated but estimated based on andaazification. There was no mechanism to properly measure domestic productivity, particularly the agricultural productivity, upon which 94% of population were based. So, The reported GDP under-evaluates the actual GDP. If we re-analyze the data, we might get a different picture like the one in the dotted line. ]
