Collecting matchbox skins was very funny.

Firstly, your home didn't have enough matchboxes such that you could have them in abundance to play.
Secondly, you couldn't buy the matchbox skins in the local store. :)

The very obvious thing then was to go for hunting. In retrospect, it looks totally unsophisticated to go searching for the skins in the neighborhood but that was the only option. Again, there were a lot of competitors around your neighborhood that all the matchboxes from every nook and corner would have already come out into the market. So, we used to go like street urchins into faraway places strip-searching all the garbage bags. There would always be someone reporting it to my parents and I would have a great time at home.

Ok, here are some other extremes I did in my childhood that most of you could just imagine :)

Collect the scrap metals and the wools from the carpet factory and sell it to the Kawadi. Again in the night, we used to sneak into the same Kawadi and steal the same stuff and resale it next day. Those were the wonderful days with Goodfellas. From the money earned, we used to buy stickers of the bands like Metallica,  Iron maiden, and comic books and open a 'street shop' and sell and rent that. Isn't that creative? Let's say that we were precocious lol. I used to hang around with the guys with whom my parents would never endorse befriending. One of them is a tractor driver now. Another one, I heard, is in Kashmir and I know nothing of the other one.
Another very intersting event: My maternal grandparents caught me scavenging scrap metals in the street. Everytime I went to theirs' place, they would make fun of me saying ' give him food in a paper plate, otherwise he will sell that plate too'. It was kind of embarassing.

Once my dad brought me a  shirt from abroad. I was an aspiring goalkeeper then. Fair enough, I painted No. 1 in that shirt the same day. I was such a dumbass that I wore the shirt and asked  my friend to write in it. The paint not only got in my shirt but also in my back and lasted for more than a week

Ramayan

We used to make bows and arrows. Find a soda cap and flatten it and roll into the arrow to make it fancy. Some used to put nail in the arrow. Oh! I remember one incident about a boy who was totally crazy about Ramayan. According to circulated rumor, the boy used to say ' Jay Shree Ram' so often that his parents and teachers scolded him a lot. One time he was in a class re and he was saying 'Jay Shree', at the meantime the teacher looked re and he said 'Hanuman'... hahaha.

All those events were the precedences for me going to the boarding school. Maddogg, you know how our school was, don't you? It was like positively 'from frying pan to the fire'. The boarding school was  totally different experience.
