If you don't mind movies from the 90s but quite suspense then The Game (starring Michael Douglas, Sean Penn) will not disappoint you. U-turn (starring Sean Penn, Jennifer Lopez) like the name suggests has a lot of unexpected sequences.
A recent great suspense movie that pops up in my mind right now is Gone Baby Gone (Casey Affleck, Morgan Freeman, Ed Harris) which was directed by Ben Affleck.
