Some options as to how these things play out in Nepal.

I. There will be a sincere-sounding, here-we-go-again type of a ready-made 'aatma-alochana' by the Maoist top leaders. They will use all the right words, push
all the right emotional buttons, look genuinely contrite on TV, etc . . . they know that
they will have to play the part, and they will pay it with all the sincerity of the muskaan
on an air hostess's lips!

II. The Maoists will make the government hand out a compensation package of about Rs. 1 million or more to quiet down the victim's family. [One of the greatest pleasures for anyone in power in Nepal is to give away other people's -- in this case, Nepali tax
payers' -- money, and make himself look righteous and generous!]

III. The Maoists will do nothing, and the whole thing blow over in a few days.

IV. The Maoists will promise to punish the guilty -- (NOT according to the law of the land, but according to how they see fit) . . .  and in a few days, everyone forgets who
was supposed to do what to whom.

V. The Maoists will blame the Palace/India/Ametria/______ (fill in the blank with your favorite villain) for inciting janmat against them like this, and use this to argue how this bodes ill for republican causes.
