Bro, I think you are better off sticking it out at that community college for the time being until you get at least a 2.8 CGPA. The reason being, if you want to transfer anywhere they will go over your transcripts, which you admit are not too impressive. At least by remaining at that commcoll where you are now, you avoid one discouraging and disastrous situation. The situation might change for better after 1 year, but it cannot and should not get any worse.

It is understandable that you have to spend more time at work that with your studies, but you AND ONLY YOU can and need to set your priorities right. In the meantime, it is not wrong to look at your own GC or other PR options, irrespective of what others might say.

Been there, done that.
