Chana-jyu and Sajha_Lawyer-jyu,

I think Big Media were doing what is called “advocating journalism”. You promote “good” thing, not the “facts”.

It’s not that media have ignored periodic polls that get conducted in Nepal.

Most, actually all, of these polls have shown what they present as “monarchy” extremely and consistently (1997, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007) popular in Nepal.

Even the poll I mentioned above does this. It shows 45% support for monarchy.

Now, how do you reconcile that with 1% support for the King ?

Media has often presented that as “bad king, good monarchy” message.

However, a closeer look at the questionnaire will tell that the question on monarchy is designed to “lead” the opinion. This trend/trick is more and more prominent in older polls.

Really, there is amazing degree of cheating in these polls. I have talked about some of them in this forum on some occasions (2-3 years ago).

I was planning to write an article on that kind of fraudulence prevalent in these socalled “scientific” polls. It did not materialize. I still have raw materials with me. I need to organize them before I can share.

But trust me, “mis/leading” questions on “monarchy” and biased interpretation of the answer was a recurring feature of these polls.

Now, why one question showed 1% support for the King in the same poll above ?

The answer is simple. Because the question was clear and not “mis/leading”.

More when I am free.
