Let's help to create Gorkhaland State in India

Here is my uneducated view on Gorkhaland:

Once Ghising goes, another Gorkhe will live in Lal Kothi, with a lot of hot temper and very little vision. All the upper class Darjeelinges are moving to the warmer flatlands, leaving behind the kamaan workers, older pensioners and misdirected youths to run Darjeeling. Lack of vision and leadership is what fails Darjeeling. Compare it to Sikkim across the hill and the difference will be obvious.

The current Gorkhaland movement will see the same fate as the most recent Nepali aandolan. Too many big and small parties fighting for the big prize, without a strong devoted leadership. Bimal Gurung represents GoJaMuMo, a breakaway faction from Ghising's GoRaMuMo. And there are other communist groups, ethnic and tribal groups and too many regional groups, some affiliated to national parties (BJP, CPI, CPI-M, CI etc), others will support from neighbouring states (Sikkim etc) /countries (even Bhutan has representation there for the Bhutias/Lhotsampas etc). When Ghising leaves Laal Kothi, there will be another bloodbath for the DGHC office.

The current Gorkhaland movement seems focused on removing Ghising, but there is a total lack of vision or communication on the outcome of that effort. Gorkhaland territory reaches beyond Darjeeling, towards the eastern borders of WB. The multitude of economically deprived ethnic minorities (AadiVasi) in the plains of WB have very little representation and voice in Gorkhaland movement. Also, Gurung et al seem preoccupied with fixing the hills, but are disillusioned on the challenges they face from Siliguri, Darjeeling and hill districts' Birgunj or Biratnagar equivalent, where most of the supply flows from.

These are the realities of Darjeeling.

BTW, the Mantra song, - Gorkhali ko Chhoro ma, Gorkhe mero naam - inspires the youth in a stereotypical way. Maybe that is where a lot of dreams are made - be a true Gorkhe, fighting and hot blooded male.

Gorkhaland needs a strong leadership, unaffiliated to any party interest. Much like a new age Gandhi.
