with $1000 for short term investment, u can make big bucks if you trade on margins.. so if the stock goes up u will gain big but if stock goes down u will lose big too.. risky unless you know what u are doing.
otherwise to be safe i would just invest $1000 for long term.. short term with $1000 u probably cant make big bucks... also what is your definition of short term ? 1 week, 1 month, 6 months, 1 year ??
