I think Indians know how to treat Americans.
I graduated from a University in USA, and I am a pretty good student too. But I had no real experience before. I applied to a lot of positions that I could do well. 80% of times, I wasn't even responed back. I had a few interviews in 3 months. And none of them resulted in a job.
I eventually decided to do what the Indians do. I faked my resume, put 5 years of experience with whatever skill they are looking for. And I got hired within a couple of weeks.
So I went in to this position which demanded 7 years of experience, and had no experience at all in reality. The first three months were difficult, more so due to communication skills than technical. After I started feeling comfortable with the environment, I started doing very well at the job.
Now one and a half years later, they think I am a genius. But I am in fact the same nervous guy with no experience. And I haven't changed much technically.
Believe me, 90% of americans at work are dumb. In the meetings, even if he knows just 30% of what you know, he will make himself look like a guru asking all sort of questions. The rest 10% are real hardworking and dedicated and are the ones who rule the world.
If you want to get recognized in USA, just fake it.
