But I think there are there kinds of views emerging out:

1. India Fobia: These kinds of views see India is the only obstable for Nepal. They don't care about the   internal problems, our strengths or weaknesses.

2. India Mania: These kinds of views see without India nothing is possible in Nepal. They also ignore our own mights.  These and the erlier views are dominant in Nepalese context.

3. Independent: Given the globalization at its height, we should analyze and solve our problem on our own and should maintain cordial relationship with neighbors and other countries. These views are very little heard and like receptive in present context.

Republicanism is the second thought. There are two trenches in republicanism:

- Status quoists:  They only look back. They rememeber what was there in the past- economy, security situation, education system, etc and enjoy the relic. They do not like to see the future and ignore about the prospects and potentials. They ingnore what changes were brought post 1990. They think people have gone out of the country just because of our internal problem. They close their eyes and do not even see the effects brought about by the globalization. They don't even try to see why Chinese and Indians have spread all over the world and progressed (were there no opportunities internally?). They think Nepal should always remain in the same position as it has been. They don't like to even hear about changes, revolutions, jumps............ they don't understand, change is not as smooth as status quo; transition is tough, bitter and hard; they think leaders should always be charismatic; leaders should be like god; leaders should not make any mistake (as they believe King is the incarnation of god and he is immaculate/perfect, he does not make any mistake); they belive Paras Nrhitya is Bhagwan ko Lila, etc etc .......................................................

Progressive Some are very extremist, some are centrist and some are blurred (in the sense they are not clear as to whether they have held the right end of the stick or not and may flip the path any time). They believe in change; they think change is the only truth. They believe in :ghoda chadne ladchha/no work no mistake; no matter how bitter is the change and the transition, it should be brought into the logical end; no coutry has progressed in status quo; we have lots of potentials and prospects, we have to tap the potential and covert it into physical reality through proper internal management and with the help of international friends; let's move ahead; we have to emerge out of our the vicious poverty cycle any way no matter whatever obstacles come in our way. It is also enqually true that different people have different perspectives on Republicanism (as Imi has pointed out). We have to decide which thought is important and suitable for Nepalese context in the arena of Progressive field not in the status quo. We can not go back....................................................

This is my understanding.
