6 YCL cadres revolt against Maoist party

SINDHULI, Nov 17 - Six activists of the Maoist youth front, the Young Communist League (YCL), have revolted on Saturday, making a few serious allegations against the party, including discrimination and mistreatment of party activists. YCL district secretary and secretariat member Madan Baral, secretariat members Jwala Prasad Neupane, Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, Menaka Pulami and district committee member Kalpana Pokharel and Sawitra Neupane announced the revolt organising a press conference at a quiet place in Bardibas.

 

They said the district level party leaders treat the cadres as their servants, and that the financial irregularity was rampant inside the party.

The leaders have misused the party money worth Rs 6 million without any record, discriminated the cadres by dividing into two groups and turned a deaf ear to their genuine demands.

  

In the press statement issued during the press conference, the renegades claimed that most of the district-level leaders had private houses in the capital. (Abui ni ta, kati chito pragati gareko .. oho??)

They even discriminate among the families of the martyrs and gave good facilities to the kin of the leaders while others did not even get basic facilities. “The party still has the tendency to provide high-class facilities to the leaders while the cadres are treated as servants, not even provided basic facilities like medical treatment”, the statement added. The statement further said that as the money generated by levying taxes and through “people’s development budget” is not utilized properly.
