PM promises to make public Shah's whereabouts in 2-3 days
Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala assured the family of abducted journalist Birendra Shah that his whereabouts will be made public within 2-3 days.
According to president of Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) Bishnu Nishthuri, who was also present during the meeting between PM Koirala and Shah's wife Umaravati Shah and her two kids, the PM said that the actual state of Shah will be made public in 2-3 days after investigation.
After meeting with the Prime Minister, Umaravati Shah broke down when media persons asked her if she thinks her husband's situation will be known now.
Shah had been abducted 26 days ago. Various groups, rights organizations and parliamentary panel have concluded that Maoists are responsible for his abduction.
Maoists, on the other hand, have formed a three-member committee headed by Hari Bhakta Kandel to "find out the truth."
"There is no policy and no instruction by the party (to abduct journalist). But if somebody is found to have done so, the party will take action," said Kandel. nepalnews.com sd Oct 30 07
