Cinema and Tibet: A Brief Historical Overview

A good informative piece on Tibetan movies. Tian Zhuangzhuang's movie is good, despite what the author implies. I think he is one of the most brilliant Asian directors, trained in the Kurasawa school, i.e., use symbolism and "recreate the past to depict the present."

Windhorse is, in my opinion, a terrible, terrible movie. Everything is bad, and is a sort of propaganda movie aimed at those whom Pearl Buck rightly labled, "in the summer I am a nudist, in the winter I am a Buddhist."
