Euta Nepali, Ofcourse Nikon. D40 does not have motor so you can only use lens with motor for auto focus. I have not used D40 but it's a nice entry level Digital SLR. Next is D50 if you want little bit more functionality but if you are ready to spend $999 on body then I recommend D80 (I love it ) so my suggestion is either go with D40 or D80 with cheaper lens then in future you can add lens of your choice which ranges from $150 to more than thousand Sweet one lens cover all (from wide angle to good zoom)l is 18-200mm with VR but it will be big investment.
