More and more, the commercial success of Karna Shakya's book "Soch" has shown how big a hunger there is in Nepal at this time for -- well -- simply written "self-help/self-enlightenment" books in Nepali bhasa.
I suppose, human beings everywhere want to learn from others to improve
themselves in some ways.
And we know that "self-help" -- the form of books, seminars, etc -- is a multi-billion dollar industry in the US. In India, there are now a dozen Indian self-help gurus.
Perhaps Shakya's succes opens the door for Nepali Steven Covey, Tony Robbins et
al to emerge in coming months and years to tell Nepalis: "Yes, you can shape your
own destiny if you folow this 10-step process in this new Nepal."
