HIDDEN FACE OF GLOBALIZATION

It's a hidden face of modernization, I would argue. Free trade brings lowers the prices for the consumers in the U.S. and provides jobs and opportunities for people in these developing nations. A global change does not happen overnight - it will take generations. Immigrants to the U.S. till this day work hard and that is why it is a "developed country." Without hard work and sacrifice, no nation can succeed. What you are seeing here is a face of modernization which will take decades. Once the gap between these countries (through free trade) is closer, they will start competing with each other (comparative advantage). I do not feed bad for these workers working 20 hours a day. I think of it as an opportunity for them and the generation that is to follow them. Just think of it this way - what would they be doing if they didn't have a job?
