Sad Reality of Nepal

I want to share a real experience I had that really shocked me. In my last visit to Nepal in December, I was travelling from Biratnagar to Dharan in a micro bus. At that time, Biratnagar was really chaotic because of numberous Strikes and Bandas called by various groups almost everyday. The market of Biratnagar was disturbed for almost 14/15 days in a row. In the micro-bus I heard two teen agers returning to Duhabi from Biratnagar talking about the money they made participating in rally and stone throwing activities for the day. One was saying, he received 75 rupees only for that day where as the same organizers paid them 100 rupees in previous days. The other guys replied he also received only 75 rupees as they was no latthi charge or other serious incident on the day. I started thinking, is this the future of Nepal. You collect 200 youth paying them 75 rupees a day, ie 15000 rupees and close the whole city of Biratnagar for a day causing milions of rupees to the economy of the country. No parties are exception to this reality, either it be Congress, Community, Maoist or Pro-Palace. You have million rupees, you can hire 200 youth for 10 cities for a week. This is the sad reality we are living on. May god bless you all.
