It is very sad to hear that our Nepali brothers/sisters are having tough time in oklahoma. I understand that it is almost impossible for most of us nepali to pay tuition and other bills without working off campus. This is reality. Most of us has done that and these guys got unlucky. The international advisor is also not very supportive/cooperative/forgiving. The best solution would be try to convince her that it will never happen again and you will only work on campus during your stay at that school. if you can solve this school from school, it will be lot easier for you all, other wise case might be too complicated and costs a lot of money too. It is good that you posted your situation here and everyone is trying to help you guys, but no concrete solution has come up until now. I still think it is lot easier frm school, if not try to go for immigration attorneys. Not many people might have gone through this, so we are not getting any solutions. try to figure out something. this is summer, so yu are not required to take classes at this time. you can focus on this issue. If your school can not do anything, ask them to at least let you guys transfer to different college. try to transfer to cheap college at this time. so, when your new college ask you abotu this off campus employment question, you can tell them that one of the reason why you transfer to cheaper college is because of quality education in low cost and you dont wanna involve in same off campus employment again. while this is not right time to say what dyamn posted, i actually agree with his view. these days, we see almost all nepali students want to go abroad because of country's deteriorating situation. everyone has dream and want to fulfill that dream. i also suggest to all new aspiring students to do some research before coming to usa. it is not easy. it is very good idea to come to usa if we get some kidn of scholorship or if we need to pay only 5-6 grands per year , which i believe we can earn during summer and working on campus. if we need to pay a lot of money, then it will be very difficult for us. we have seen many students who come here in good school and later transfer to cheap schools and htey dont know when they gonna graduate. some of you folks might have already experienced this situation. some students come here as an undergrad and spend a lot of time to get graduate while some of their friends back home rather chose to stay in nepal for undergrad and ocme hre for masters. at the end of the day, it is vry likely that those folks back home will be in better position after 4 yrs. it is lot easier in masters. even if you dont get assistantship, your struggle period will be only two years. think abou it. and dyamn, these days it is not even necessary to go to india for undergrad. there are enough schools in nepal wherer we can get good education in engineering, medicine, business, with US standard 4 years undergrad degree. I always discouraged people to come to usa as an undergrad if his/her background is not good enough to get scholorship and always encouraged to apply for masters program. I hope these guys will get out of this situation sooner than later.
