As per my experience I suggest you to apply for Citi® Platinum Select® Visa® Card for College Students. You need to submit proof of payment of tuition fee and/or copy of your college ID. Dont forget to tick that u r "US Citiizen" (!). I could obtain credit card 4 weeks after I got SSN. Once you apply online, they will send you mail asking such proofs. You may get credit line of $2000. If you have bank account in banks like Chase, Bank of America, then you have always a high chance to get credit cards from those one. Better to get one from citi first and have some credit history (wait atleast one statement)! I am not a credit experet...this is all about my personal experience with getting credit cards.
