Govt school students with Xavierian caliber

I think lot of people have uninformed ideas about Xavierians. When lot of Nepalis talk about education, they mean book learning, SLC ko marks etc. But education has a more dynamic meaning at STX. They do not expect students to memorize whole books for the sake of getting top ten in SLC board. STX gives a well rounded education as opposed to the lop sided education that most other schools tend to give. Consequently, you will meet with a Xavierian who has a well rounded education not limited to memorizing books. that's why you rarely see anyone on board top 10 in SLC. Students get many opportunities to excel at what they want to do by participating in many extracurricular activities made available to them such as sports, educative contests, school newpapers, drama/plays, trekking/hiking/camping, Leadership training service, scouting, etc etc. Through group projects students learn the importance of camaradarie and positive attitude. Positive thinking is a very important thing that most students learn. More than anything, I think students from STX are imbibed with the feeling of बाँच र बाँच्न देउ In godavari, as a student you have to fulfill few hours of social service at the nearby village where you actually become a part of the village family by helping them with thier day to day activities such as gathering fruits from trees, making cow dung patties for burning, even eating together with the villager families. Activities like this teaches humility which many people never get to learn all their life. I have heard from others that Xavierians are proud but personally I don't think they are proud to the extent they are arrogant or contemptous - perhaps there might be few but not to the extent you can generalize. It's same thing such as us Nepalis feeling proud of being Nepalis. It's natural to feel proud of one's institutions. But rarely do Xavierians belittle or speak badly of other schools. If you see a Xavierian who's proud of his school or his education, please remember बाँच र बाँच्न देउ and let them be proud of their school. If a person feels comfortable speaking in english then stop assuming that it is to 'show off'! Xavierians are mostly broadminded about things like this and would rarely make an issue about someone else being proud of their school or speaking in english....
