Once a tourism personnel was saying that he and buddhist community had advocated for a long time, and even submitted applications to the authority for printing the buddha's image in coins, and which they can present or sell as souveneirs to tourists, so that it would be spread worldwide, and at least it would make to coin collectors. But the governments probably saw it as a threat to hinduism or whatever and it never happened.
