I am not a follower or either Girija or Prachanda but I am quite glad to see someone taking charge, albeit in a small way, in the country. I am also not one to often agree with Prachanda but I think he is right when he says this is more an issue with style than substance between the two men. I have little regard for Girija's autocratic ways, but given Yadav's past and present conduct , this seems to be more a case of assertiveness than autocracy. I am also not a big fan of the Army top brass, but I am also glad to see the PM stand up for the Army. Maybe some in the Army are responsible for what Mr Yadav alleges and if they are they should be investigated and punished. Assuming the Monarchy will be abolished, and the trend at the moment point to precisely that, the Nepal Army might turn out to be the best guardian of Nepali democracy. It is time our politicians stopped blindly bashing the Army and learn to respect and engage it and win it over to the side of the people. On that account, I give full credit to Girija and his security adviser Ramesh Jung Thapa for making an effort to do so.
