Even if one is thinking to be talking to a pretty and young lady, it could be a real ugly and fat woman; and vice versa. Even when you write the research papers for the courses in school, most online sources (that just come off the internet, for instanse, just by googling) are NOT considered reliable sources, and not accepted. How can someone's chat can imply his/her true feelings? It’s not your logic or mine, it’s the law. Interestingly it’s the state law not federal that plays vital role in the scenario you have given. In Texas, just having an explicit chat with a minor and soliciting for sex over the internet is enough to put you behind bars. That’s what happened to the D.A. in Texas. Now, logically speaking, Mr. Bishta had a whole month to put things into perspective and 4 hours to question his intention during the drive. If him actually driving down to meet the girl cannot imply his/her true feeling, then I don’t know what can Well, the other side of the coin can also be, since he knows about the dateline program, so how can we not believe that he really believed that the girl was adult; therefore, despite knowing the fact there are ambushes where he could be trapped, he still kept talking to the girl. No where he mentioned he doubted the age of the girl. He did it because he simply thought the girl wasn’t involved in Dateline. He took a shot, that’s for sure. Let’s say your argument holds true and he actually thought the girl is not underage, then wouldn’t it still be risky and unethical to meet her when she claims all the way that she indeed is a minor? And having said all that, I am not trying to defend the guy, but I just don't believe this is the right practice of catching the bad guys. Now we are talking. This probably is too aggressive, but without being aggressive we cannot stop the predators out there who can easily lure the kids. Dateline intention is ratings, but something good has come out of this. Just like the decoy lied, I am sure there will be many times, if not there has been already, when the sexually active underage teenager boy will drive to decoy. And that time, I believe that the decoy should deserve the same punishment Mr Bista supposedly deserves today. That’d be like charging a spy who poses as terrorist, as a real terrorist. I guess I understand what you are trying to say, but it’s not coming out right.
