MAOIST EARNING MONEY BY SELLING TREES In this February 1 photo, Maoists at Kumroj VDC in Chitwan district load timber onto a truck for selling it elsewhere. In 2003, the Maoists had captured 57 hectares of jungle in the Pumori area of the VDC, and recently they started cutting down the Sishau (Acacia-Dalbergia) trees. On one single day, February 1, they sold off Sishau worth 1.5 million rupees. Maoist local area in-charge Krishna Aryal said the trees were felled on his party's orders.
