balbahadurji, you have raised very tuft question?Basically these two are academic terms.I may not be able to answer it properly.Let me try to distinguish these two from career perspective: MIS basically deals with Decision Support System(DSS), Executive Information System and Expert System.These systems are built to help middle level and top level management in an organization to take decision for planned and situated work.So,I believe as MIS student,you are heading more towards management and you perhaps start your career as Project Manager or may be Business Analyst. CIS basically deals with IT tool for Information management.So you are more into technical aspects of Information System.Perhaps, you start your career as Programmer,Data Modeller or may be technical BA.You may end up with Project Architect. Iif you are MIS student you are more into transforming Information into Knowledge and deciding for further action and as CIS student you are using tools to build Information System. I may be wrong.I would like to request expert to jump into this matter and make it more clear.
