Sheetalb: There are different perspectives of designing as a BA. 1) If you are hired for Business site of a company, you will be engaging much to the requirement specification and involve less to the design .You will be preparing test plan and test script later on the project. 2) If you are hired for IT site of a company, you will be working more as liaison between Developer and Business users, basically assisting IT PM where you will be doing lots of documentation and designing work. a) You will be responsible for transforming Business Requirement into Functional Requirement Specification(you perhaps use USE CASE APPROACH) b) You will be using VISIO or Rational Rose tools for some diagrams c) You will be engaging into scenario writing: Both Success scenario and alternate scenario 3) If you are hired for database designing then, you will be engaging more in data modeling like Normalizing tables and so on.
