You know what guys, Soktim has a point here. Well I did loose my dad to alcohol last year. But you know what eventhough I am sad and hurt with his departure, I still blame him coz it was because of his mistake, I lost my dad and my Mom lost her husband. Being the eldest son, i have the responsibility of my two younger sisters who are in high school in Nepal. But yes it was my dad's fault, as he was the sole responsible person to choose Alcohol and finally passed away leaving us 4 with sorrow and grief. Once in a while I do feel like why am i in grief, well my dad made a decision on himself to drink, noone forced him the alcohol through his throat! Same scenario applies the Nepali student who untimely passed away in a car accident. but look at it, isn't this his fault to get involved in a race on the highway, being stupid and tragically get killed? Same case happened a few months back when 3 nepalis were in a car accident, in that case too the driver(Nepali Student) tried to make a left turn from the right lane. whose fault is it here again? Well i know most of the nepalese student who have been accusing Soktim of writing BS about a nepali being killed in a car accident, are themselves thinking in some corner of their miind well he was racing with another car and got in the accident. well I do have Sympathy to his family for the untimely loss of their beloved. Who knows better than me what a death in a family means, and its even worse when he was the back bone of your family. Another point i did noticed was the way Soktim expressed his feelings was not appropiate, or would rather say not of the type which could be absorbed by the Sajhaites, especially when they have lost a beloved. I do agree that all the sajhaites who used the curse words were under emotional stroke due to the loss of a beloved fren. but several people who did not even know Avi were just after Soktim because its a human nature. And far top of this we all Nepalese living thousands of miles away from our motherland and family do care about any Nepali in trouble. This shows that even though we may have become used to the burgers and tacos, steak and sandwich, hip-hop and rap, toilet papers and napkins we do still care for a fellow Nepali. The cultural feeding we received from our families and society back home are still intact and hope will always be. Again how many of you guys here in Sajha really care what happens in Nepal. Is it just because we have our family back in nepal? or should i say how many of you really intend to go back to Nepal after your studies? I don't know what i will do myself personally. If i could I would stay in the US, not that I do not care about my Family. It would be much easier for me to support them if i stay here for few years. Yes I am a selfish person, as you might think. Family comes to me first then comoes Motherland and other stuff. I don't care if i am not being patriotic or responsible to my motherland. But guess what, for me my MOTHER IS MY WORLD. I starts in her and ends in her.It was her who gave birth to me and raised me giving alll the basic necessities a child would need eventhough my family was not of high class. my dad worked in a government office and the money he made was just enough for basic eminities. Raising three kids with the mere Govt. salary that my dad brought home, after using a bullk of it on Booze, was not easy for my MOM; but she did it.I am proud of my MOM. we went to a basic standard english school, that too was possible because the school had free tution for the third child from the same family. The owner of the school was our neighbor so he gave us further discount on tuition n fees. Now here i am studying in US on full scholarship(wouldn't even dream of coming if it was not for scholarship), and my uncle's financial help (initial cost was covered by him, which i plan to payback if luck favors). and guess what i work at a gas station too and am maintaining a good GPA(3.9 to be precise). well i read several posts filled with patriotism and some originators might be even serious, but 75% of the posters are just running after the crowd. just because someone writes Kick the King out, several replies bombbard the post with agrreing to the original post. And there comes someone who dares to challenge the basis of the claim everyone is after him/her, and stupid of them since they do not have any logical reasoning they use vulgar and curse words. Who do you think these acts proves right. Similarly, in this post instead of coming up with counter arguments and make Soktim beleive that he is wrong, he needs to change his attitude what we do: curse him, his family......well some people did try to come up with some logic to counter argue Soktim but they just got lost in the crowd, their voice was not heard. It is just a human nature to get into cult groups and mobs. thats how riots start. Just because a person is scared that he will be rejected from a group he just follows the group even if he knows that his deeds are wrong. The main culprit here is the phenomenon of Deindividuation, i.e the loss of self/individuality. larger the group gets the more a person will lose personal responsibillity. the other factor is the physical anonimity, as no one knows your real identity(with few exceptions) and on top of that you just get lost in the crowd. you become less restrained, less self-regulated and are more likely to act outside of our values. One of the major factors for our behavior is the illusion of invulnerability and conformity pressure. Our primary "Need to be Accepted" has led us to such an extent of cursing each other in several posts. Just because bunch of others think "X" is wrong just don't go aftert their thoughts; put in your individual thought and arguments. Well after all this writing I know what to expect, I will be the new center of Hatred and all the cursing will be directed to me now. well it don't matter to me, as you might have heard the famous Nepali saying: "Kukur haru bhukdai garchhan, Haatti lamkirahanchha" and FYI I do not know who Soktim is and in no way am i related to him. and let me also inform you about what the new rumor is gonna sound like: " There's a new person in sajha who is writing like Soktim, lets kick his a$$." And the reaction from 70% sajhaites: replies full of curse and vulgar words. just to show what they learned from US culture- the curse words. hurrah. Peace.
